When a School Bus is Stopped If a school bus is stopped with red lights flashing and the driver's side stop sign extended, YOU MUST NOT PASS FROM EITHER DIRECTION. Children may exit the bus and cross the roadway under the direction of the bus driver. Did you know that the fine for passing a school bus with flashing red lights is $402 and 6 demerits?
