Christ The Redeemer (CTR) Catholic Schools is pleased to announce Mr. Michael Annicchiarico as temporary Principal of St. Francis of Assisi Academy, which will begin in the fall when Mrs. Avramovic begins her maternity leave.

Mr. Annicchiarico began his career with Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools after earning his Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary in 2009. He started at Holy Cross Collegiate in Strathmore, teaching both junior and senior high Social Studies and Physical Education before transferring to St. Francis of Assisi Academy in 2018.  Over the course of his career, Mr. Annicchiarico has taken on a variety of school and divisional leadership roles, including Athletic Director at multiple schools and Team Leader. He has served as Vice Principal at Holy Trinity Academy for the past two years and recently completed his Master of Education in Educational Studies at the University of Alberta, with a focus on standards-based assessment and grading practices at the high school level.

Reflecting on this role, Mr. Annicchiarico shares, “I am humbled to return to St. Francis of Assisi Academy, a school that has been instrumental in my career and one that has been an important part of my professional journey. I look forward to continuing the meaningful work taking place each day, where staff continually embody the school’s mission of living with faith and love, reflecting the peace and goodness of Christ.”

Superintendent Dr. Andrea Holowka shares, “St. Francis of Assisi Academy will be well served by the experience, wisdom, and faith-filled leadership that Mr. Annicchiarico brings during Mrs. Avramovic’s maternity leave. I am grateful that a strong and familiar leader will step into this role, ensuring continuity and continued support for high-quality learning within a Catholic, caring environment."
