Congratulations to Mr. Mike Jerrett who has accepted the position of Vice-Principal of The Centre for Learning@HOME.  Mr. Jerrett graduated from Dalhousie University in 1997 earning a Bachelor of Arts with a major in history. His love of history and inspiration from his high school history teacher Mr. Allan led him to complete a Bachelor of Education at St. Francis Xavier University, graduating in 2000.

Mr. Jerrett was then offered a position by CTR to teach at St. Paul’s Academy, something described to him as a cutting edge “virtual school” where he would teach over the Internet. Although a foreign concept, he viewed this position as an interesting challenge and accepted. At The Centre for Learning@HOME, Mr. Jerrett has taught Language Arts, Social Studies, PE, Health, Religion, CTS, and French. He also enjoyed teaching Grade 8 Physical Education at Notre Dame Collegiate in 2001 – 2002. Mr. Jerrett quickly realized home education provides important options to families and has devoted his career to helping students achieve excellence in various modes of distance learning.  Mr. Jerrett has held various leadership positions serving as English, Social Studies, Humanities, and Physical Education department heads, as well as technology team lead. These positions inspired him to complete the Aspiring Leaders program and earn a Master of Education in Administration and Leadership at the University of New Brunswick, graduating in 2017.  Over the past 21 years Mr. Jerrett has come to understand that we are instruments of God’s grace toward our students through our service, and he looks forward to continuing to answer God’s call to our vocation in his new role.

Principal Paul Byrne shares, “Mr. Jerrett is a person of strong conviction and a stalwart example of faith commitment to others. He takes part in ministry at his local parish, Mary Mother of the Redeemer, and is eager to share his faith with others. Mr. Jerrett is a strong instructional leader with a servant heart. Mr. Jerrett's commitment to academic excellence and building strong relationships has been a hallmark of his career. His impact on student learning during his 21-year career at The Centre for Learning@HOME has been outstanding. He is highly respected by his colleagues, parents and especially his students. We are excited to have him join our school administration team.”
