Information Privacy
Collection of Personal Information:
Christ The Redeemer (CTR) Catholic Schools collects and uses personal information about students and families to provide safe and effective educational programs. The information is collected and disclosed pursuant to the Education Act (including the Student Record Regulation), the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) , the Access to Information Act (ATIA) and Section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Why We Collect Information
We collect student information so we can:
- Create student records, report cards, and attendance
- Arrange transportation, safety, and emergency contacts
- Provide digital learning accounts and resources
- Support student activities, awards, and athletics
How Information May Be Shared
We may use or share information for school purposes such as:
- Student records, report cards, and attendance
- Transportation, safety, and emergency contacts
- Law enforcement or legal matters
- Digital learning resources and technology accounts
- ID cards, yearbooks, and library access
- Awards, scholarships, athletics, and student supports
Note: We will never sell your information or make email addresses public.
Your Rights
You can change or withdraw consent at any time by contacting your school.
If no changes are made, your last consent will remain in place year to year.
You may request that information like awards or public participation not be shared. Contact your school principal to do so.
Email, Text & Phone Messages
With your consent, CTR will send updates about school activities, events, fundraising, and programs.
If you do not consent, you may miss some activity details, but you will still receive important updates such as absences, academics, and emergencies.
Student Work & Photos
With consent, CTR may publish your child’s work or photo/video in newsletters, displays, social media, websites, and events.
Public events (sports, concerts, graduations) may also be photographed or recorded by attendees beyond our control.
News Media
Occasionally, news outlets visit schools to highlight positive stories. With consent, your child may be photographed, recorded, or interviewed.
