Christ The Redeemer (CTR) Catholic Schools is pleased to announce Mr. Darren Dornstauder as the Principal of Holy Trinity Academy.

Mr. Dornstauder joined Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools in 2013, beginning his career at St. John Paul II Collegiate. During that time, he has championed various school-based and divisional initiatives in a variety of leadership roles. In 2020, Mr. Dornstauder completed a Master of Education degree from the University of Alberta, specializing in secondary curriculum and teacher professional development. Mr. Dornstauder’s leadership extends to the provincial level, where he serves as an executive team member of the Health and Physical Education Council of Alberta and has previously served as a mentor for beginning teachers across the province with Ever Active Schools. Since 2022, Mr. Dornstauder has served as Vice Principal of Holy Trinity Academy, where his commitment to academic excellence, student-centered learning, and faith-based education has made him an integral part of the HTA community. In 2025, Mr. Dornstauder was recognized by the Alberta Teacher’s Association with the Alberta Distinguished Leadership Award for his exemplary leadership at Holy Trinity Academy. Mr. Dornstauder cares deeply about whole-child development and has been heavily involved in extracurricular activities as a coach since beginning his career. This is further evidenced by his recent collaboration in developing CTR’s divisional athletic handbook. Outside of school, Mr. Dornstauder is an active member of the Knights of Columbus within his parish.

Mr. Dornstauder shares, “I am deeply honored to accept the position of principal at Holy Trinity Academy. My time serving this community over the past four years has been incredibly rewarding, and I am grateful for the deep connections I’ve shared with our dedicated staff, students, and families. I look forward to working with and leading our school in an authentic Catholic learning environment rooted in our school’s virtues of faith, hope, and love, where every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential academically and spiritually.”

Superintendent Dr. Andrea Holowka shares, “I am excited to have Mr. Dornstauder move into the role of principal at Holy Trinity Academy. His authentic commitment to Catholic education, sharp focus on instructional excellence, and rich leadership experience at Holy Trinity Academy will serve this outstanding school well as it continues to grow and flourish.”
