Christ The Redeemer (CTR) Catholic Schools believes that great educators can be formed and supported right here in our communities, and our CTR Catholic Future Educators Bursary Program is designed to help you pursue teacher preparation while remaining connected to home, family, and the community you hope to serve.  The division will be accepting applicants from the Oyen, Drumheller and Brooks communities.

Through the CTR Catholic Future Educators Bursary Program and a partnership with Northwestern Polytechnic, you can earn your Bachelor of Education Degree without leaving your community.  The CTR Catholic Future Educators Bursary Program is an opportunity to build your future while serving the faith-filled community you call home and helping students grow in mind, heart, and spirit.

What Makes this Program Unique?

  • Attend classes remotely with online coursework designed for flexibility, allowing you to remain connected to your family, parish, and community. 
  • Most classes are outside of the workday, so participants can continue with their employment with some accommodation.
  • Meet monthly with other participants and members of CTR Catholic for collaborative learning and relationship-building.
  • Learn from CTR Catholic educators who understand Catholic education, our schools, our students, and the communities we are called to serve.
  • Receive personalized guidance with one-on-one support outside of scheduled meetings, with mentorship that supports your academic success and your growth as an educator.
  • Complete a paid internship in Year Four, gaining meaningful, real-world classroom experience in a faith-filled Catholic school setting before graduation.
  • Graduate one semester early and begin working with CTR as a full-time teacher immediately. 
APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 24, 2026 
This program is for individuals entering into a Four-Year Bachelor of Education program at Northwestern Polytechnic (Elementary).  
  • CTR Catholic pays tuition only - the student is responsible for any other fees, textbook costs, etc.
  • Bachelor of Education program - completed as a full-time student over four years
  • Successful applicants must sign a Three-Year Return Service Agreement with Christ The Redeemer Catholic Schools for the community in which they enrolled. 

How to Apply

To qualify for this Bursary, interested applicants MUST:

  1. Complete the CTR Catholic Future Educators Bursary Program application and meet all requirements by the advertised deadline.
  2. Be approved for the CTR Catholic Future Educators Bursary Program by CTR Catholic.
  3. Successfully apply and get accepted into the 4-Year BEd program for Elementary  Education at Northwestern Polytechnic.

Please email Mr. Vincent Behm, Deputy Superintendent at vbehm@redeemer.ab.ca for a copy of the application.  As part of the application process, you will be submitting a 750 –1,000 word essay describing your experiences working with children, how these experiences have shaped you personally and professionally, and why you feel called to serve as an educator in CTR, contributing to a faith-filled learning community that supports the growth of each child - academically, socially, and spiritually. 

CTR Catholic will: 

  • Upon approval of the CTR Catholic Future Educators Bursary Program application, and upon receipt of confirmation of the Student’s registration into the course of studies, CTR Catholic will pay the sum of the total cost of tuition only as an award for the Student to continue in the course of studies.
  • Upon graduation, guarantee a placement into the CTR Catholic community in which they were accepted.
