Foothills Emergency Services Program (FESP)

Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools is pleased to partner with Foothills School Division, the Town of High River, and the High River Fire Hall to offer a career exploratory program in the fire and emergency services, the Foothills Emergency Services Program (FESP).

Students will gain high school work experience credits and relevant certifications leading to a variety of health service occupations.  Training will be based on Medical First Responder (MFR) and Fire Fighter Training (NFPA 1001), including Advanced First Aid and HCP CPR, Occupational Health and Safety Awareness and Career Counselling.

Students will be required to commit one evening of each week to training at the Fire Hall, along with some full day Saturday training sessions. The program is open to students in Grade 11 or 12 in September each year. There are only 12 spots available in the program. Students must have HCS 3000 - Workplace Safety Systems complete prior to acceptance in the program, so students are encouraged to complete this course in advance; it is recommended that students are enrolled in Biology 20, Biology 30, and/or Sports Sciences.
