Summer Work Experience
Earn high school credits while you work this summer!
Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools, in partnership with The Centre for Learning@HOME/St. Paul’s Academy, will offer Work Experience 15/25/35 and RAP (Registered Apprenticeship Program) during the Summer of 2025 - no cost to register!
WHO CAN APPLY?
Students age 15 and older as of June 30th, in Grade 10/11/12 (including those completing Grade 9 and Grade 12 in June 2025) working in the following locations* can apply:
- Calgary
- Okotoks
- High River
- Strathmore
- Canmore
- Drumheller
- Brooks
*NOTE ABOUT LOCATION: Students working a close distance to one of the communities above may be considered - your location will be reviewed after your registration inquiry is submitted.
REGISTRATION AND COURSE DETAILS:
- Students are responsible for arranging their own employment.
- Registration inquiries will be accepted until June 16, 2025.
- All registration inquiries will be reviewed and are subject to approval. Registration status will be confirmed on an ongoing basis via the email addresses provided when your registration inquiry is submitted.
- Students can earn credit for hours they work through to August 12, 2025.
- Students must fulfill all the requirements for the course, and achieve at least 75 hours of work experience, in order to earn the minimum number of credits (3 credits). After 75 hours, students who complete all requirements will earn another credit for every 25 hours.
- A maximum of 15 credits in Work Experience 15-25-35 can be counted towards the 100 credits required for the Alberta High School Diploma, and students may earn up to 30 total credits.
- HCS3000 (Workplace Safety Systems) is a prerequisite/required course to participate in the Work Experience program. Students who have not completed this course in advance will be provided with the opportunity to complete this online course prior to summer (details will be provided after your inquiry is submitted).
- Students are prohibited from using the following activities towards Work Experience: driving a motorized vehicle of any kind (e.g. riding lawn mowers, tractors, etc.), use of any equipment deemed high risk, working from heights (e.g. roofing), or any work occurring in unenclosed buildings/structures under construction. Other prohibited activities may be identified during the worksite inspection.
- A detailed Work Experience course package will be provided to students once the registration inquiry has been approved.
