At The Doorpost Café, held at Crystal Ridge Golf Course in Okotoks, we gathered to honour the talents of our student writers and authors from across CTR. During the evening, each student shared a meaningful line from their writing in what we called a Symphony Share. As each line was read aloud back-to-back, without interruption, the distinct voices, topics, rhythms, and emotions of our young writers blended together to create a beautiful collective cadence - a literal symphony of the authors' thinking and writing at that exact moment in time. A Symphony Share is used to reinforce a foundational core belief of celebrating the beautiful words of writers: everyone in the room is a writer, and every single voice matters to the community. Each student writing piece has also been compiled in the Tablets and Doorposts Anthology that each writer will receive as a keepsake and an encouragement to keep writing!

Last night, we had the joy of celebrating student writers and artists from across CTR at The Doorpost Cafe: A Curated Collection of Artists and Authors. From powerful writing shared by our Top 20 Tablets & Doorposts student authors to the presentation of our Golden Brush Awards for this year’s Curated. Art Collective, the evening was a meaningful reminder of the gifts our students carry and the stories they have to tell. CTR received over 86 writing submissions for Tablets and Doorposts which was then compiled into a beautiful anthology of writing of which each author received a copy. We also received 102 art submissions for Curated. Art Collective, and selected student artists were recognized with a Golden Brush Award. Thank you to the families who joined us for this special evening, and to the teachers who recognized the gifts in their students and encouraged them to submit their work. A special thank you as well to our students for sharing their talent with us. We are incredibly proud of each one of you!

Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools is proud to celebrate Mrs. Pella LeDrew, recipient of the Edwin Parr Zone 5 first year yeacher award! This special event was held last Thursday evening in High River. Mrs. LeDrew is a first year teacher at St. Anthony’s School in Drumheller, and it was an honour to see her recognized among all the wonderful candidates in Zone 5. Her care for students, joyful spirit, and commitment to Catholic education are a blessing to CTR.

Faith is lived each day in our schools! During Catholic Education Week, Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools celebrates the gift of Catholic education and the many ways faith is lived each day in our schools. Catholic Social Teaching is woven throughout daily school life. Through initiatives like Many and One and You Are Loved, students are learning to see the image of God in one another, care for creation, and work for a more just and peaceful world. This begins in classrooms, hallways, and school communities. CTR Catholic is grateful for the students, staff, and families who share God’s goodness through acts of kindness, service, and love each day. #IBelieveinCatholicEd
