O God of Mercy and Tender Compassion, we cry out to you in this time of crisis. Hear the cries of the people of Ukraine. Bring healing to those suffering from violence. O God of hope, sustain those who labor for peaceful and just solutions. Inspire leaders and decision makers to choose the way of peace over the way of violence. Deliver all your children from the threat of war and teach us to encounter one another with reverence and love. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ who came to bring to peace on earth and who abides with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen. – adapted from a prayer by Sr. Deborah Harmeling, O.S.B. 🙏

Fr. Troy Nguyen, Associate Pastor of St. James Parish in Okotoks and a priest within the CTR family shares, "There are many more instances I could describe where Catholic education creates opportunities to encounter our Lord and the Catholic faith. These opportunities to reach out to students are only available to me because the administration and teachers allow me to come to visit the school. It may be much more difficult if not impossible to enter another school not focused on Catholic education. So, while there is much to be grateful for, there is much to continue to strive for if we want to maintain Catholic education. We need to pray for our teachers and administration and we need to continue to be intentional in forming their faith so that they can evangelize to our children from an authentic heart. We need to remain firm in our Catholic identity so that we can transmit the Catholic faith in its fullness and this is what differentiates us from public education." Brandon Bailey, Principal of St. Mary's School shares in this month's Faithfully: "The impact of teaching and learning through the various waves of the COVID 19 pandemic has impacted everyone and affected us in different ways. We noticed in conversations that at times it was challenging to see the light along the journey. Even as faith-filled educators we had to cope with uncertainty and make sense of God’s intention for us. It is in times like these that our faith can really be our strength, if we look for it." Congratulations to the Holy Trinity Academy Knights who played in the ASAA Provincial Championships on Friday. We are as proud of you in your loss as we would have been if you had won. But the supreme source of our pride comes in this moment right here - prayer initiated by coach Matthew Hassett. A call to both Catholic teams to pray at the end of the game, even in defeat. A truly sacramental moment. Notice all the coaches who instinctively lay hands on the knights, praying they’ll be blessed. This is the beauty of Catholic education. This is the beauty of our Catholic faith.

I started my day with an early morning meeting with Minister Adriana LaGrange. We took the time to discuss the feedback I have received on the draft curriculum, the health of our children and teachers, and as always, advocating for our rural schools. Thank you Minister for your time and for always having an open door to discuss the concerns of my constituents.
