CTR recently celebrated the efforts of our school council parents who received the St. Joseph Parent of Distinction Awards at the Spring Council of School Councils meeting on May 11. The award recognizes an individual who demonstrates the ability to promote parental engagement and involvement in the Catholic education system. Recipients include: Stephanie Barr from Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Academy; Pella LeDrew from St. Anthony's School; Leah Paragas from St. Joseph's Collegiate; Deanna Whiting from École Good Shepherd School; Heather Hambrook from St. John Paul II Collegiate; Jacquie Williamson from Notre Dame Collegiate. Missing from photo are Thelma Grobbelaar from Holy Family Academy; Jennifer Johnson from The Centre for Learning at Home; Ryan Payne from Holy Spirit Academy; and Nadine Rude from Assumption RC. Congratulations!

It is with delight that we congratulate Sacred Heart Academy teacher Sara Presakarchuk, right, who was selected as the Zone 5 Edwin Parr representative. Principal Paulette Chotowetz presented Sara with her award at a recent celebration at CTR. The awards committee had this to say, "Sara’s willingness to grow as an educator is another reason she is an excellent candidate for the Edwin Parr Award. She is deeply admired by her colleagues. Her students are always treated with great dignity and respect and, as a result, she has an excellent rapport with them. Sara has a gift of intuitive “withitness” the heart and soul of a teacher!” Mrs. Presakarchuk will attend the Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) celebration in Calgary on May 18.

St. Mary’s Little Flower Pre-School is hosting an Open House tomorrow, Wednesday May 10, from 4:00 pm to 4:45 pm for children starting Little Flower Pre-Kindergarten in September. Parents and siblings welcome. Come out see the classroom, meet the teacher, play with some cool toys, and complete a craft.
