TRANSPORATION UPDATE: The current forecast suggests that we will experience severely cold temperatures towards the end of this week, especially on Friday. Please be reminded that our practice is that rural buses will not run in the morning if the temperature is -35 degrees or lower, and in-town buses will not run if the temperature is -40 degrees or lower. If buses do not run in the morning, they will also not run in the afternoon of that same day. In consultation with Southland Transportation, we make transportation decisions between 5:00 am and 6:00 am on inclement weather mornings, and we communicate our message prior to 6:30 am. This will either be via the Spotfinder app and/or a phone call from the bus driver. Even if buses run, CTR will respect a parent’s decision to either drive their child to school or keep their child at home if weather conditions are not reasonable. Even when buses do run there may be delays, which we will communicate as soon as we know. Please ensure that students are dressed appropriately, and that young students especially, are not left alone and unattended. All families should have a safety plan for their child should there be bus delays, such as returning home if the bus does not arrive in a timely manner. If your child does return home, please let your school know. Thank you for your patience as we navigate these colder temperatures.
CTR HAS SMALL CLASS SIZES! CTR’s average class size is 22.3 which helps with more support, one-on-one or small group work and better overall learning.
With colder temperatures expected this week, bus route delays and cancellations may occur. Please check the Bus Status tab on the division website for route updates at www.redeemer.ab.ca Delay and cancellation notices will be sent to families through the Stopfinder parent app, and when time allows via text message as well. We would like to remind parents that students should be dressed for the weather and be ready to board their bus at least five minutes prior to bus departure time. Please have alternate plans in place in the event of cancellations or long delays. Do not leave students unattended at the bus stop in very cold temperatures. We understand that transportation delays and cancellations are inconvenient for our families, and we will work with Southland Transportation to quickly communicate any transportation disruptions that may occur. Thank you for your understanding!
