Donations are now being accepted for this year's Jacket Racket to support those in need of warm winter clothing. Drop off your winter clothing donations to the following locations: St. James Parish Holy Trinity Academy St. Francis of Assisi Academy St. John Paul II Collegiate St. Mary's School École Good Shepherd School Donation deadline is October 21.

Throughout this week, CTR schools across the division will focus on age-appropriate student learning, raising awareness of the impact of residential schools, honouring the experience of survivors, their families and communities, and building cultural awareness. Staff and students are also encouraged to wear orange on Thursday, Sept. 29, and all CTR schools will lower their flags to half-mast on September 30 as a symbol of this day. CTR is also encouraging families to check their local community for in-person and online opportunities to engage in commemoration of this day. May God bless Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation process. 🧡

CTR Catholic Education Centre staff received a unique blessing from Father Vijay Bathineni at St. James Parish today. The blessing was for our vehicles! As many CTR staff travel across the division's diverse geographic area from Okotoks, High River, Canmore, Strathmore, Drumheller, Brooks and Oyen throughout the school year, Father blessed the staff and their vehicles for safe travel. CTR Catholic, together with Southland Transportation is looking for bus drivers! Offering flexible part time hours, approximately two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon. Spare drivers are also needed. Great for those who are retired, self-employed with flexible hours, or stay-at-home parents. The Family School Liaison (FSL) program at CTR Catholic aims to provide social, emotional, and mental health supports at a school-based level. With the challenges faced by today’s youth growing, the FSL Workers create preventative, targeted, and universal supports that assist students in growing into the best version of themselves. Each of our schools have a FSLW. The Connections program is designed to identify and support students who may be disengaging in school for a variety of reasons. The overarching goal of the Connections program is to create a culture of connection and belonging. Our Okotoks schools benefit from the Connections Program. Both programs receive support through the United Way and Town of Okotoks.

As students head back to classes this week, please be mindful of school zones which are now in effect. Please also stop for school buses with flashing red lights and the stop arm extended. Let's all have a safe school year! ⚠️🛑

In preparation for the start of the school year, CTR teachers and staff gathered together for an opening PD in Okotoks yesterday. The day began with mass and a blessing from Bishop McGrattan, a tradition at CTR, followed by a presentation from Dr. Astrid Kendrick on staff wellness. The afternoon was focused on professional learning and team planning in the area of student wellness. This week marks the start of class for many of our students! Welcome Back!

CTR Catholic welcomed 32 new teachers to the CTR family this week! The teachers gathered for two days of learning and orientation. On the final day, CTR staff extended a traditional farewell blessing to the teachers as they look ahead to welcoming students to the classroom next week. 🙏
